MRI Technologist's Job Description:

The MRI technologist performs wide variety of M.R.I. procedures and protocols, maintaining high image quality according to department, hospital, and national standards. The job subjects them to daily exposure to high magnetic fields.

They communicate with physicians, nurses and other members of the team concerning patient status, diagnosis, and related information and operates multiple communication and telecommunication systems.

Helps coordinate scheduling of tests and daily add-on procedures. Complies with department and hospital magnetic safety standards. Practices Body Substance Isolation. Completes education necessary to maintain licensure or certification required for job. Maintains minimum of 15 CE credits every three years specific to the field of magnetic resonance imaging. Maintains team-oriented approach to high standards of patient care and patient flow through the department.

They must be helpful and courteous at all times with co-workers, maintaining positive relationships. Calibrates, maintains and trouble-shoots of M.R.I. equipment, PACS, and independent workstations. Optimizes equipment and supplies to benefit department operations. Stocks work area daily. May be involved in stocking general supplies or ordering as requested.
